Ruminating and Snowboarding in Japan

2023 was a terrible work year for me and all the things that I have been pushing back and dreading all came to a head. I needed a change and I needed a pause, even if only temporary. I needed time alone and a time-out to think where I’m headed in the future, career-wise. The wife had a business trip in Tokyo and I tagged along and had the opportunity to just think about things.

Fortunately, Japan is quite conducive to thinking about stuff and somehow I found myself anchoring my life decisions to what my experiences in Japan will be. If I wasn’t able to learn how to snowboarding, then maybe I wasn’t fit into the new role that they want for me. If the food wasn’t as good as I remember it to be, then maybe I’m not as capable as I think I am. Might be a bit of a spoiler to the following travel video but I learned how to snowboard and the food in Japan is still fantastic. So to commemorate that phase in my life (and to finally add some new content on this expensive and useless website), I made a video. Enjoy!
